The
Nelson cutting horse
program has two goals: one immediate and one long term. The immediate
goal is to breed AQHA registered cutting horse prospects that will
compete on a national level with the best. We are doing that with our
mares by Doc O'Lena, Grays Starlight, Dual Pep, Smart Lil Richochet and
others. We are using the top sires such as High Brow Cat, Smooth As A
Cat, Boonlight Dancer, and Peptoboonsmal.
Our second goal is to create top-notch brood mares through competition
on a national level. This is complemented by an occasional purchase of
well-bred brood mares that we feel can produce the offspring to make
good cutting horse prospects.
Currently we have several top prospects available for sale in Texas and
California. In Texas we have a yearling filly by Smooth As A Cat out of
the good Crocheted mare that’s won over $140,000. We also have a High
Brow Cat colt out of a Grays Starlight mare and a Peptoboonsmal colt
out of
a
Doc O'Lena daughter (dam of Moody Blue Boon and other money earners).
In
California we have a Boonlight Dancer filly out of a Grays Starlight
mare and a Dually Pep out of a Tangys Classy Peppy daughter.
